East coast race report

As the East Coast adventure somes to a close Team 3d has had a decent showing at Windham mountain, National championships and the World cup at Mont Sainte-Anne. The first stop at Windham went well with a really fast well manicured course that had some east coast flavor with cool bridges and some short but sweet single track, it felt more like a west coast course with fast fire road climbs but in the end it was a fun course. Adam Snyder was the only representative of the team coming in with a 20th.

The next weekend was the big show, Nationals at Mount Snow. This year the course was changed a bit with more fire roads and less techy single track breaking out some old school sections from back in the 90's. The one real downfall was that the race was really short and with our diesel engines didn't have enough time to get running, by the last lap we were finally starting to pick riders off but when we came around for the fourth lap the race was already over. The team had again a decent showing not placing where expected but still a respectable showing having Adam place in 18th and Nate in 39th.

On to the World Cup at Mont Sainte-Anne where the course was probably the most fun and technical course of the year. Finally a true MTB course that shows what a real mtber is made of. Once again Adam was the only representative but had a strong showing placing in 42nd after a few problems of dropping bottles a few times and having to ride without one for 2 laps and finally cracking hard on the last lap.

Now that the east coast trip is over it is time to start training hard again at altitude to get ready for the NMBS finals at Brian Head where the team will be back together for the last race of the seres and ready to put in one last big effort for the season.

Santa Barbara or Santa Ynez or was it Los Olivos?

Well this post is a little late on the race coverage front but better late then never. The third round of the NMBS series was two weekends ago and the team faired well. The German (Ben) was going to make his big debutt butt he broke his tail bone during the Gila stage race and didn't notice until a few weeks later.

First off the travel went well aside from the early morning wake up so we made it in early to Santa Barbara with enought day light left to make it to the venue and pre-ride the course. We soon found out that although posted on the web site there was not a pro loop so we were looking at doing three long loops. With the weather forcast looking HOT for race day it was going to be a death march, luckily the organizers opted to shorten the race to 2 1/4 laps still equaling a death march. When Race day came around it was a brisk 104 degrees. Knowing the race would be long and hot Chad and i started off slow and it paid off considering the two of us passed 5-10 guys each on the last lap placing Chad in 30th and me in 13th a best for both of us. After the race Chad was welcomed officially into the Pro ranks by having to take his first doping test.

Onto Sunday the big short track, to sum it up it was once again extremely HOT and dusty making it the hardest short track the two of us have ever done. In the end the two of us placed in 20th and 29th....sweet. After this weekend Chad is ranked within the top 50 in the overall standings and some how I am ranked 8th overall in the series for the XC standings.

All in all it was another great weekend for Team 3D we would like to thank our sponsors for helping make the travel and accomidations possible..

NMBS #2 in the books

The Nova National is always a race to see in who's in early season top form and this year it didn't disappoint. Team 3D ad a strong showing in the XC with Adam taking 20th, unfortunately Chad was in the same boat as about half the Pro mens field suffering from the desert heat and having to pull out a lap early. All in all the team is looking strong for this 2008 season, so far Adam is 15th overall in the series and Chad is ranked well within the top 70 in his first Pro season.

Let the games begin

Well the 2008 season has begun. Chad and I hit the first round of the NMBS series in Fontana CA last weekend. When we stepped off the plane at the Ontario airport we were hit with the breathe taking view of the majestic smoggy mountains of southern California. After we deplaned we picked up the rental and quickly found our way to our exquisite accommodation's in the quit town of Fontana. After a good night of coma sleep at sea level we hit the course for a little pre-ride sesh and did some openers for the next days big XC. When Saturday came around we were a little nervous considering it was the first race of the year. I had a great call up in the third row and Chad didn't have the best of call ups due to the fact that it was his first pro race. In the end both of us had some decent results for the first race of the year especially for this early in the season. Chad ended up placing 59th in his first Pro race heck yea! and I placed 19th (I've got to get out of that 19th place funk and move up). Sunday was the STXC and both of us had ok results placing 34th, and 65th. Monday we flew out and made it back to town unscathed but a little jumbled up from the turbulent skies.

Now we are in Phoenix for the second round of the NMBS series. Yesterday was the Super D and the to of us had some very sub par results but we have the STXC and XC to redeem ourselves.

Wish us luck,
Adam

Cycolcross season recap

So far this season Team 3d racing has been racing present at many of the top UCI races in the U.S. Adam Snyder and Chad Wells both raced at the Boulder UCI races where they had respectable results considering they were their first UCI races of the season. It takes a little getting used to starting in the last row. The next weekend Adam and Chad raced the Gunnison UCI races where Adam placed 15th and Chad only made it two laps until his enormous power brought him into difficulty resulting in a little mechanical. The next day both riders raced at the hometown Squawker cross UCI race, both of them had respectable results placing 15th and 17th in a strong field of UCI regulars and hometown heroes.

During the next few weeks our riders journeyed to different races which resulted in great results for the team Chad placed well in the Durango local races placing in the top ten. Adam flew back home to race some USCF races placing in 3rd on the first day and 2nd on the next. This past weekend Adam raced in the Sterling UCI race in Massachusetts placing in 15th at another really strong field of New England racers and past National champs.

The team is coming into form for the National Championships which are held in Kansas City, KS. In the next few weeks the team will be competing in the local Durango series fine tuning their form. Thanks for stopping by and wish us luck.

See you at the races,
